Ways to spruce up your home in 2020

Mansons Social Mansons 18th February 2020

February can seem like the never-ending month where everyone is keeping an eye on their spending and inevitably breaking their New Year’s resolutions.

But with the start of the new year and new decade it’s quite understandable to want to make some changes, whether it’s personally, professionally or around your home.

Sprucing up your home doesn’t need to break the bank, there are lots of small changes you could make to refresh your rooms and make it feel like a whole new space.

Adding some greenery can breathe life into your room and adds a great touch of colour if you’ve opted for neutral colour schemes. Even if you’re not green fingered, there are so many decent and realistic looking ‘faux’ alternatives, with the added benefit of not needing to remember to water them.

Redecorating doesn’t need to carry a huge price tag and could actually provide some fun bonding for you and your family. If you think your family room or bedroom could do with a fresh-lick of paint why not head to Homebase or B&Q pick out your favourite shade of cream (yes there are 38 shades of cream on the Dulux website). Communal areas are normally quite spacious making painting it yourself a lot easier; throw some old sheets over furniture and the floor and you’ll be ready to go.

This time of year, every kind of shop has a sale or discount running. If you want to add a little texture to your living spaces, something as simple as updating your cushions, throws or adding a rug can make a great deal of difference. Small secondhand stores or flea markets can also be a goldmine for pre-owned furniture than just needs a bit of painting to give it a new lease of life. They’re also a great place to pick up interesting knick-knacks, the type you probably wouldn’t find in chain homeware stores.

So even if you want to give your home a little makeover, it needn’t cost a lot of money. Small changes can make a big difference, even something as trivial as rearranging your living room furniture could give you a fresh perspective on your house.
