Can you believe that it’s almost Christmas? While we may have had an unpredictable year so far, we can still find the magic of the festive season right from the comfort of our own homes. Whether you’re celebrating Christmas for the first time in a new property or have traditions that go back generations, joy can always be found this time of year.
In this blog post, we look at little ways you can make this season extra special and uphold some key British traditions.
While we might not be knocking on our neighbours doors this year, that doesn’t mean you should miss out on singing some of your favourite Christmas hits. Whether you’re going old school with ‘Hark! The Herald Angels Sing’ or want to channel your inner Mariah with ‘All I Want For Christmas’, set up a Zoom call (or should we say Zoom concert) and let the celebrations begin.
For the past few months, human contact has been a little bit restricted. Sending a Christmas card to loved ones will definitely lift up their spirits! We’d definitely recommend shopping for charity cards as you’ll be helping a cause in a time of great need.
Putting up your tree
If you haven’t already, what are you waiting for? Pop up your Christmas tree and decorate it fabulously with the entire family. Make sure to have some festive jingles on in the background and of course some hot chocolates to keep you going. You could even make some of your own decorations – check out Good Housekeeping’s blog post for some impressive ideas.
Christmas Day walks
Head outdoors and breathe in the refreshing winter air. Whether you’re heading to a nature trail or for a wander on the beach, this is a great tradition to get you out of the house for a little chunk of the day. You might even see some other families doing the same and you can wish them a Merry Christmas!
And of course… Christmas dinner!
No Christmas is complete without an iconic Christmas dinner. This is everyone’s favourite part, right? Suddenly we all become massive foodies at this time of year and then somewhat regret it when we’re drafting up our New Year’s Resolutions to lose a few pounds! Make sure you include all of the trimmings and pull some crackers while you’re at it.
We’re very excited to hear about what you’ll be getting up to on Christmas. Make sure to let us know and tag us in all of your Elf-ies!
